X JULY 18- - The next artist show will be July 18 featuring Raphaella Vaisseau, and what an experience that will be. Her bright, colorful flowers will cool off the hottest summer day. More details on that coming.
X OCTOBER 10 -- We are planning on this date for our fall fundraiser for The Path Forward Foundation. It's going to be called the Blue Ridge Ball and open to the public tor $75 per ticket. More on that and all we hope to accomplish at a later date, but it will be festive with live music and other entertainment. Last year's fundraiser brought in almost $20,0000 to benefit artists and musicians impacted by Hurricane Helene. We hope to top that this year. We will let you know when tickets go on sale soon!

IN THE NEWS
Spectrum News 1 NC:
Interview with Babette Reynolds & Puck Askew
Thank you to Spectrum News Asheville for shining a light on our talented oil painter Puck Askew’s work, and for taking time to interview our artist, proprietor, and co-owner, Babette Reynolds.
Babette and her husband, David Newton, started Blue Star Gallery in conjunction with their non-profit, The Path Forward Foundation, in an effort to provide a space for Asheville artists whose studios and gallery spaces were affected by Hurricane Helene. Of every piece purchased from Blue Star Gallery, 5% goes to The Path Forward Foundation which raises money for artists who’ve been affected by natural disasters such as Hurricane Helene.
The Path Forward Foundation Merchandise
One of the special features in Blue Star Gallery is a small section promoting the sale of The Path Forward Foundation merchandise. We have original prints, framed and unframed, in addition to hats, t-shirts, water bottles and handbags. Fifty percent of the proceeds from these goes to our foundation's charity.
The prints are special because they represent the beginning of the foundation. Let me explain. Babette and I were at a Steep Canyon Rangers charity concert in Charlotte N.C. shortly after Hurricane Helen devastated WNC in late September of 2024. We both were touched by the message of Graham Sharp, the lead song-writer and banjo player for the band, on how folks could help support Helene recovery beyond donations. The next day I emailed Graham and discussed how we could help their cause.
This immediately turned into Babette painting three beautiful landscapes of the Blue Ridge Mountains to be sold at another SCR charity concert in Graham's hometown, Greensboro, N.C. Babette also managed to get hats and t-shirts ready in just over two weeks. She's amazing. We sold the paintings at the silent auction with proceeds from all merchandise sales going to SCR's cause.
That led to the formation of our Foundation of which Graham now is a board member and we continue to sell items to benefit the cause of helping artists and musicians impacted by Helene.
I love telling this story because it all happened like it was meant to be, and it continues to be a big part of our lives now that we are living in West Asheville.
So take a look at the merch. We also have a new logo designed by our associate, Sumner Elysia. We'll have new merch with that logo in time for our Oct. 10 fundraiser that you'll be reading more about in the near future.
Sincerely,
David Newton

Giving Back
At Blue Star Gallery, art is more than what hangs on our walls — it’s a way to strengthen and celebrate our community. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, we are proud to donate 5% of all net proceeds to The Path Forward Foundation, supporting recovery efforts and uplifting Western North Carolina’s resilience. By showcasing and championing local artists, we not only share their creative voices but also help rebuild the region we call home.
